FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What materials can you print on?

Our digital inkjet printers are capable of producing stunning images on a wide variety of materials, including all types of vinyl, canvas, flag cloth, mylar, window film, paper, carpet, and various natural and synthetic fabrics. We are constantly adding materials to our inventory, so if you have a specific request, please let us know.

Do you offer a selection of print qualities?

Yes and No. All of our printers are state-of-the-art and produce excellent output for the type of tasks they are designed for. However, some jobs do demand higher resolution than others, so we offer 70 and 150 dpi for grand format, outdoor applications, and 330 and 660 dpi for more demanding jobs.

How large can you print?

Just about any size you want. We can print up to 16 feet wide without any seams, at any resolution, and at almost any length. Beyond 16 feet, we have in-house seaming equipment that enables the completion of virtually any size project. So, whether you need huge building wraps, banners, floor graphics or any other grand format project, we can get it done.

What determines the price of a job?

Many variables factor into the price, including the material used, the size and quantities of each piece, the number of different creatives, and the finishing required. One thing that does not affect price is the number of colors.

What type of files do you need to print my job?

We can accept almost all popular graphics files, including Photoshop, Illustrator, Freehand, EPS files, TIFFs, high-resolution PDFs, CorelDraw, Indesign, and Quarkexpress. See our “Art Department” page for more information.

How should I build the digital art file for best results?

Please visit the “Art Department” page.

How do I get my art file to you for printing?

The easiest way is through the “send artwork” page on this website. No password or special software is needed, and large files can be transferred. If you prefer, you may also send us your art on a CD or DVD. Files smaller than 10 MB can also be emailed to art@xldigital.com.

What is the best way to ensure I get the colors I want?

The best way is to either provide us a proof or swatch of the color(s) you want, or provide us the pms colors from a pms chart (pms is Pantone Matching System).

Can you provide me a proof before printing?

If requested, we are happy to provide an email proof without charge, which is very helpful in confirming the layout and content, but is not effective for color matching since all monitors (and printers) are a little different. Hardcopy proofs on the actual selected material can also be provided, but there may be a charge involved.

What is your turnaround time?

Our goal is to have your order completed within 36 hours of receiving it (or proof approval if applicable). We will let you know immediately if we don’t feel we will be able to meet this goal.

How will you ship my product to me?

It depends on the product and your preference, as we have many established relationships with shippers. For billboards, we typically use Fedex Ground, unless the customer requests expedited delivery. For most of Texas and adjacent states, Fedex Ground provides next-day service. Bottom line: we will get your order to you when you need it.

Can you create the artwork for me?

Although we do not consider ourselves in the creative business, we have graphic artists on staff who can design and build artwork for a reasonable charge.

What if I need to make a small change to a digital file, such as changing a date or a directional?

We are happy to make simple changes such as these at no charge if you have provided us a digital file already.

What other charges are there?

We do not nickel and dime our customers with a la carte pricing – the pricing we provide you will be for the whole project, including pre-press, an electronic proof, any minor revisions, color matching, and finishing.
